Dan Yashinsky is a storyteller and writer living in Toronto. He tells many traditional stories, esp. Jewish ones, that are about memory, voice, and the power of stories to change the world.
He has performed and taught at festivals in Singapore, Israel, Austria, Germany, Wales, Ireland, England, Brazil, Holland, Sweden, the US, and throughout Canada. He is the author of Suddenly They Heard Footsteps (translated into French and published by Planète rebelle with the title Soudain, on entendit des pas ...). He is the founder of the Toronto Storytelling Festival and co-founder of FOOL - festival of oral literatures. In l999 he received the Jane Jacobs Prize for his work with storytelling in the community.
